Description

  • Architect and ship scalable, mission-critical brokerage systems using gRPC microservices, REST/gRPC APIs, and vendor integrations.
  • Advance the core platform to support multi-region, multi-currency, and globally regulated use cases.
  • Own API quality, performance, and operational readiness for regional workloads.
  • Lead, coach, and develop engineers in Singapore, including setting priorities, quality standards, and career growth plans.
  • Partner with recruiting on regional hiring and interview processes.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and help strengthen engineering culture across Alpaca.
  • Act as a senior escalation point for incidents affecting regional stacks and improve monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
  • Participate in on-call coverage as appropriate for the team.
  • Work with Product, Compliance, and local stakeholders on Singapore and regional requirements.
  • Collaborate across time zones with US and other regional engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Strong backend engineering experience with Go or an equivalent language and distributed systems at scale.
  • Staff-level technical impact, including architecture ownership, cross-team technical leadership, and mentoring.
  • People leadership experience with direct or matrix management of engineers, including 1:1s, performance, and delivery management.
  • Experience in financial services, fintech, or brokerage, including trading lifecycle, settlements, and regulatory awareness.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and comfort working with regional and global stakeholders.
  • Experience in Singapore or APAC regulatory and market context is preferred.
  • Experience with microservices, Kubernetes, cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS, and event-driven design is preferred.
  • Open-source involvement or a strong community presence is preferred.
