Description

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to turn ambiguous business and operational questions into clear analytical outputs.
  • Build and own analytics data models to support core financial metrics, dashboards, and analytical workflows.
  • Write clean, maintainable SQL across PostgreSQL, Trino, and Apache Iceberg.
  • Build and iterate on metrics and tables using dbt and surface them in Metabase dashboards.
  • Investigate trends, anomalies, P&L calculations, and trading behaviors using SQL and Python in notebooks when needed.
  • Help operationalize data by standardizing core business entities and creating self-serve analytical environments.
  • Assist with reporting capabilities and automate recurring reports.
  • Catalog recurring reports and drive standardization and productization of reporting processes.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts to learn brokerage operations, ledger systems, and compliance context.
  • Communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical partners.

Requirements

  • Strong SQL fundamentals, including joins, CTEs, window functions, and clear query structure across diverse database environments.
  • Prior exposure to building analytical data models or metrics tables using dbt or similar analytics engineering workflows.
  • Strong analytical intuition with the ability to ask the right questions and synthesize clear conclusions.
  • Comfort using Python for analysis, including Pandas, NumPy, and Jupyter Notebooks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong desire to quickly learn broker-dealer concepts such as clearing infrastructure, execution lifecycles, and financial accounting standards.
  • Experience working in or around brokerage, financial services, or similar complex operational domains is preferred.
  • Familiarity with SQL-based analysis as the primary tool and Python as a secondary tool is preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment is preferred.
  • Comfort embedding with subject matter experts and handling complex, domain-specific data is preferred.
