Description

  • Lead, hire, coach, and manage a team of data engineers and applied data scientists.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to translate business needs into technical requirements and prioritize initiatives.
  • Shape the company’s data and AI strategy for internal productivity, trail content, map quality, and personalization.
  • Architect and deliver scalable batch and streaming data pipelines.
  • Productionize machine learning models and algorithmic systems into reliable engineering solutions.
  • Oversee data orchestration, transformation, alerting, and data flow across the organization.
  • Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and system failures to maintain high system uptime.
  • Champion data reliability, quality, privacy, compliance, and cost efficiency.
  • Build tools for data cataloging, documentation, and self-service data access.
  • Improve time-to-insight, debugging speed, and deployment velocity through continuous platform improvement.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering.
  • 3+ years managing data engineering, machine learning, and data science teams.
  • Experience coaching senior individual contributors and building an inclusive, accountable team culture.
  • Hands-on experience managing GCP data infrastructure and enforcing data governance.
  • Experience with BigQuery or Snowflake, Dataform or dbt, and Apache Airflow.
  • Experience designing SQL/Python pipelines with Dataflow, Spark, or similar frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of dimensional modeling and star schema design.
  • Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD, monitoring/observability tools, code reviews, and monthly on-call rotation.
  • Track record guiding teams through the full ML lifecycle and MLOps for recommendation, ranking, personalization, or classification use cases.
  • Preferred: experience with geospatial data, maps, tiling, graph databases, routing, multi-cloud (GCP + AWS), B2C companies, and Terraform.
