Description

  • Envision, champion, and support the development of novel ML systems, product integrations, and performance optimizations to solve real-world customer support problems.
  • Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML models and services (including LLM fine-tuning and optimization) for Customer Support (CS) products.
  • Build and maintain retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)/search systems and LLM-driven chatbot or agentic AI solutions.
  • Develop LLM evaluation and testing automation, feedback-based learning pipelines, and guardrails for safe, reliable production use.
  • Own end-to-end projects from conception through production, including system architecture, implementation, and performance monitoring.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams to define requirements and integrate AI solutions into CS products.
  • Learn and share the latest AI/ML technologies with the team, mentoring peers and promoting best practices.

Requirements

  • PhD or Master’s degree (preferably in Computer Science) or equivalent experience.
  • 6/9+ years of ML engineering experience, with ownership responsibility over large-scale software systems (role may span more than one career level).
  • Proven background in the design and development of AI and ML systems and services, with a focus on efficient and scalable ML-powered products.
  • Experience or strong interest in LLM-driven chatbot and agentic AI products (preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively within and across engineering, product, and design teams.
  • Willingness to operate in a remote-eligible role and occasionally work from an Airbnb office or attend offsites as agreed with manager.
  • Must reside in a U.S. state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity (check Airbnb careers for excluded states).

Benefits

  • Base pay range: $204,000 — $255,000 USD (actual base pay depends on experience and other factors).
  • Role may be eligible for bonus, equity, and other benefits.
  • Employee Travel Credits provided as part of compensation/benefits eligibility.
  • US remote-eligible position with flexibility and occasional office/offsite attendance as agreed with manager.
