Description

  • Develop high-quality data assets for a wide range of use cases across Airbnb.
  • Build frameworks and tools that scale insight generation to meet business and infrastructure needs.
  • Collaborate with data practitioners and cross-functional partners across Product, Business, Data Engineering, Data Science, Finance, and Operations.
  • Influence how data is used in decision-making and improve trust in data quality across the stack.
  • Lead and mentor team members by providing technical guidance and setting high standards for quality.
  • Define and evolve long-term metrics architecture, data quality standards, event logging, and instrumentation for the domain.
  • Design and evolve core data models and business metrics for reporting, experimentation, and strategic decisions.
  • Participate in architecture design and help establish best practices for analytics engineering.
  • Support end-to-end data lifecycle work, including data ingestion, reconciliation, and curated analytics-ready datasets.

Requirements

  • 9+ years of experience with a BS or Master’s degree, or 6+ years with a PhD.
  • Fluent in SQL and proficient in at least one data engineering language such as Python or Scala.
  • Expertise with business intelligence and reporting tools such as Superset and Tableau.
  • Expertise with large-scale distributed data processing frameworks such as Presto or Spark.
  • Expertise in data modeling for data warehouses and/or metrics repositories.
  • Experience with an ETL framework such as Airflow.
  • Clear and mature communication skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership and mentorship with minimal supervision.
  • Experience leveraging LLM AI tools in everyday tasks such as coding and documentation.
  • Strong ability to build trusted partnerships across teams.
  • Experience scaling data tasks through automation is preferred.
  • Previous experience in large-scale cloud-based software engineering or system architecture is preferred.
  • Experience with AB experimentation is preferred.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML algorithms, including their data dependencies and strengths/limitations, is preferred.
  • Experience designing and/or leveraging high-quality data visualization tools is preferred.
  • Must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity for this US-remote-eligible role.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $194,000 to $240,000 USD.
  • May be eligible for bonus.
  • May be eligible for equity.
  • May be eligible for benefits.
  • May be eligible for Employee Travel Credits.
  • US-remote-eligible position with occasional work at an Airbnb office or offsites.
