Description

  • Lead the design of high-performance distributed systems that can handle global traffic.
  • Develop and refine backend services to improve scalability and efficiency.
  • Drive the transition toward a service-oriented architecture to increase modularity and resilience.
  • Enforce code quality through SOLID principles, design patterns, and testing standards.
  • Coach mid-level engineers through detailed code reviews and technical knowledge sharing.
  • Identify service bottlenecks and implement advanced caching and database strategies.
  • Partner with Product and DevOps to translate complex requirements into scalable technical roadmaps.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to support 24/7 service reliability.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional backend development experience with deep PHP expertise.
  • 4+ years of experience building enterprise-grade applications in Laravel, or equivalent senior experience in Symfony.
  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and messaging patterns such as SQS or Pub/Sub.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including performance tuning and transaction handling at scale.
  • Experience architecting solutions on AWS and working with containerized environments using Docker.
  • Strong focus on clean code, automated testing, and CI/CD best practices.
  • Fluent English with the ability to explain complex technical trade-offs to stakeholders.
  • Must reside in and be fully eligible to work in Romania, Spain, or the UK.
  • Experience with SaaS/PaaS, SOA, or microservices architecture is a plus.
  • Experience with eSIM, GSMA technologies, or travel tech solutions is preferred.
