Description

  • Build and evolve backend features for Airalo’s global eSIM platform.
  • Work on complex backend architecture, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure challenges.
  • Develop reliable PHP code in a fast-paced product environment.
  • Collaborate with a remote engineering team to deliver features that impact business outcomes.
  • Support platform scalability and resilience for millions of users worldwide.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to maintain 24/7 service reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and improve infrastructure and CI/CD-related issues.
  • Write unit and feature tests to ensure code reliability.
  • Contribute to clean, modular code and maintainable system design.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of professional backend development experience.
  • Strong command of PHP.
  • Proven experience building applications in Laravel, or a strong Symfony background with interest in transitioning to Laravel.
  • Strong understanding of OOP, interfaces, and code modularity.
  • Solid knowledge of SQL, including indexing, migrations, and basic query optimization.
  • Familiarity with Docker and basic CI/CD pipeline troubleshooting.
  • Experience writing unit and feature tests.
  • Fluent English and ability to communicate technical progress effectively in a remote team.
  • Must reside in and be fully eligible to work in Romania, Spain, or the UK.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with Redis or Memcached, AWS, SaaS or Traveltech, eSIM or GSMA technologies, and distributed systems or horizontal scaling.
