Description

  • Own architecture for critical cloud service domains, including scalability, reliability, security, cost efficiency, and technical debt.
  • Define service boundaries, APIs, data contracts, and integration patterns for independently evolving cloud services.
  • Lead cloud architecture improvements and translate architectural vision into long-term technical roadmaps.
  • Partner with CloudOps to establish reliability targets, disaster recovery strategies, and operational readiness standards.
  • Champion cloud-native practices including infrastructure as code, automated testing, continuous delivery, and observability.
  • Lead adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices for cloud development, infrastructure, testing, troubleshooting, and refactoring.
  • Improve developer experience through local development, CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, and operational tooling.
  • Document architectural decisions, service contracts, and operational runbooks.
  • Mentor engineers and guide cross-team technical decisions on distributed systems and cloud architecture.
  • Communicate cloud architecture, risks, and technical strategy to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information systems, software, electrical or electronics engineering, or a comparable field.
  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years at Staff level.
  • Strong Python proficiency and working experience with Java for backend and cloud-based services.
  • Deep experience designing, building, and operating scalable enterprise-grade applications on AWS.
  • Experience owning and evolving architecture for complex, distributed, long-lived cloud platforms.
  • Proven ability to lead service refactoring, architecture modernization, and platform evolution while maintaining delivery velocity.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Experience designing and evolving CI/CD pipelines for cloud services.
  • Strong knowledge of distributed-systems observability, including logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
  • Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools and processes, plus strong communication and cross-team influence skills.
