Description

  • Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long time scale and connect it to business-impacting projects.
  • Serve as the lead software engineer for all cards in the EU.
  • Own architecture across cards and coordinate with EU counterparts.
  • Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to manage technical sustainability, risks, and trade-offs.
  • Define technical solutions and operational processes to improve team effectiveness.
  • Own team operations and availability through monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting.
  • Set and advocate for code review and design standards within and beyond the team.
  • Support talent development by giving feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Work across backend, front-end, transaction processing, ledgering, and reconciliation systems.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience as a software engineer.
  • Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
  • Experience with Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience developing front-end applications.
  • Experience delivering major features, system components, or deprecating existing functionality through a technical and execution plan.
  • Ability to write high-quality code that is easy for others to understand and use.
  • Comfort working in ambiguity and moving from language-level details to large-system architecture.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather and iterate on feedback from engineering and cross-functional peers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
  • On-call rotation is required.
  • Based in Spain; visa sponsorship is available.
