Description

  • Own and deliver quarterly team goals and drive work through ambiguity.
  • Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics on ideation, technical constraints, risks, and trade-offs.
  • Proactively identify project, process, technology, or business issues and help solve them.
  • Support operations and availability by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues, and participating in on-call and keep-the-lights-on work.
  • Set and improve code review and design standards and advocate for them through writing and tech talks.
  • Help develop teammates by providing feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
  • Design, build, and launch backend systems and platform components at scale.
  • Define technical plans for significant features or system components with simple, extensible designs.
  • Ship and refine web applications using declarative UI frameworks.
  • Use AI/LLMs to improve automation and guidance with guardrails and citations.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience as a software engineer.
  • Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
  • Experience with technologies such as Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience shipping web apps using React or Vue.
  • Practical use of LLMs or AI frameworks to enhance automation and guidance with guardrails and citations.
  • Experience defining technical plans for significant features or system components.
  • Experience making significant changes in a large codebase and building tools/practices to do so safely.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Must reside in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan.
