Description

  • Own and deliver quarterly team goals while guiding engineers through ambiguous, open-ended problems.
  • Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Identify and lead resolution of project, process, technology, and business issues.
  • Own team operations and availability, including monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting.
  • Set and improve code review and design standards and advocate for them through writing and tech talks.
  • Mentor and develop talent on the team through feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
  • Contribute technical direction and help define long-term technical strategy.
  • Work at the intersection of product, design, and engineering to deliver user experiences.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and keep systems healthy and supported.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
  • Experience with languages such as Python or Kotlin.
  • Experience building highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience defining technical plans for significant features or system components with simple, extensible designs.
  • Ability to make significant changes in a large codebase while using tools and practices to do so safely.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
  • Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • On-call rotation is required.
  • Preferred: Demonstrated ownership of personal growth and proactive feedback-seeking from team, manager, and stakeholders.
