Description

  • Manage a team of machine learning engineers building the economic decisioning engine.
  • Set the technical strategy for the team and connect it to business-impacting projects.
  • Define and advocate for technical solutions and operational processes that improve team effectiveness.
  • Partner with product management, design, analytics, engineering, and risk leaders to build and scale ML solutions.
  • Ensure technical sustainability by managing risks and trade-offs across the product development lifecycle.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop engineers through feedback, guidance, and leadership by example.
  • Help shape the long-term machine learning strategy at Affirm.
  • Bring clarity to complex and ambiguous technical problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of industry experience.
  • 3+ years of experience managing engineers.
  • Proficiency in machine learning.
  • Experience with tree-based models, transformers, deep learning, and agentic ML.
  • Strong engineering skills with the ability to provide hands-on technical leadership.
  • Comfort working through ambiguity and moving from low-level implementation details to large-scale system architecture.
