Description

  • Build and improve customer-facing enhancements, bug fixes, and workflow changes across the One45 platform.
  • Improve evaluation workflows so administrators can better deliver, manage, and communicate evaluations.
  • Refine assessment displays and learner information to make grades, scores, and related data easier to interpret and use.
  • Enhance permissions and access controls for increasingly complex institutional roles and workflows.
  • Investigate and resolve production issues while addressing day-to-day friction experienced by users.
  • Help modernize and evolve APIs, integrations, reporting, analytics, and data access.
  • Rework core product modules such as scheduling, placements, and lottery management.
  • Contribute to AI-assisted development practices across implementation, testing, documentation, and code review.
  • Review code, provide thoughtful feedback, and help move work forward through the release process.
  • Mentor less experienced developers and contribute to architectural and technical decisions while staying close to implementation.

Requirements

  • Senior-level software development experience working across the stack, with a backend lean.
  • Experience working with PHP, Symfony, MySQL, and React, or strong willingness to learn the existing stack.
  • Comfort stepping into mature, complex systems with years of accumulated product and engineering decisions.
  • Ability to think in trade-offs and make sound judgment in systems that already serve real users.
  • Familiarity with testing, reliability, and quality practices as part of day-to-day engineering work.
  • Experience using AI tools such as Claude Code, Copilot, or Codex in development workflows.
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to clarify ambiguity and drive work forward without detailed direction.
  • Comfort with occasional production support, deployments, and incident response when needed.
  • Must be a Canadian resident with valid work authorization.
  • Experience modernizing APIs, data access, or core workflows is a plus.
