Description

  • Support the reliability, performance, and uptime of data pipelines that power retail operations (POS data, supply chain feeds, inventory updates).
  • Monitor production workloads and maintain observability using monitoring tools and custom dashboards.
  • Respond to incidents, troubleshoot failures, perform root-cause analysis, and implement prevention and remediation measures.
  • Optimize ETL/ELT workflows for retail datasets and improve pipeline performance and scalability.
  • Automate system and reporting integrations (e.g., POS, ERP, loyalty, Power BI) and reduce manual processes using automation tools.
  • Implement data quality checks, validations, and alerting to ensure data freshness, accuracy, and reliability for operational use.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures supporting operational data stores and downstream analytics.
  • Develop, maintain, and scale Lakehouse and data pipeline workloads, including batch processing and data transformations using notebooks and distributed processing.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines for data integration and analytics workloads and collaborate with engineering teams on deployment workflows.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering, Analytics, BI, and Retail Operations teams to ensure data readiness for dashboards, reporting, forecasting, and real-time insights.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in Reliability Engineering, Data Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or similar roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience with SQL including debugging, tuning, and data modeling.
  • Experience building and optimizing ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF).
  • Experience automating integrations using Azure Logic Apps or similar automation tools.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services such as Storage Accounts, Functions, Key Vault, Monitor, Event Grid, and App Insights.
  • Solid understanding of monitoring, observability, and incident management practices.
  • Experience with CI/CD workflows and tools (examples provided: Git, Azure DevOps) for data integration and analytics deployments.
  • Practical experience with Microsoft Fabric components such as Lakehouse, Pipelines, Dataflows, Fabric Notebooks, and PySpark for large-scale retail data workloads.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills and ability to work in fast-paced environments with frequent data updates (retail context).
  • Preferred: experience in the retail industry (POS systems, inventory, supply chain, merchandising, or loyalty data) and familiarity with Power BI or other visualization tools.
