Description

  • Provide disease-state, product, and therapy-management education to patients, caregivers, and care team members using consumer-friendly language.
  • Serve as an ongoing point of contact to assess individual needs and connect families with appropriate education and resources throughout the patient journey.
  • Engage with caregivers before, during, and after therapy initiation through in-person, telephonic, and virtual interactions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners including Marketing, Sales, Patient Access, Medical Affairs, Advocacy, and others across the assigned territory.
  • Share field insights with internal stakeholders to help develop tools, resources, and strategies that address educational gaps and support families.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of Acadia Customer Support Programs, including hub services, patient assistance programs, and ambassador speaker programs.
  • Moderate, lead, and present caregiver speaker programs and attend community events as needed.
  • Provide in-service education to physician offices about the Family Support Educator role and available support resources.
  • Identify opportunities to provide leadership, mentorship, and development within the Family Support Educator team and broader Patient Support Services organization.
  • Ensure all internal and external activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and Acadia values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; life sciences emphasis preferred.
  • RN, MSN, or MBA is a plus.
  • Family Support Educator requires 5+ years of relevant healthcare or pharmaceutical experience, including at least 2 years in patient support or education.
  • Senior Family Support Educator requires 8+ years of relevant healthcare or pharmaceutical experience, including at least 5 years in patient support or education.
  • Clinical backgrounds in hospital nursing, social work, or patient advocacy within rare or neurological disease areas may be considered equivalent.
  • Rare disease, product launch, advocacy, Medicaid, and Medicare experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong background and understanding of the field environment in the healthcare industry.
  • Experience working with provider offices, patient assistance programs, or similar pharmaceutical support programs is strongly preferred.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration experience and demonstrated success leading without authority.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Patient-centric mindset with high emotional intelligence, empathy, and empathetic listening skills.
  • Understanding of HIPAA rules and regulations related to patient privacy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage expenses within allocated budgets.
  • Ability to travel up to 70%, depending on territory.
  • Must meet local, state, and federal vaccination requirements for in-person field coaching, customer visits, and conferences.
