Description

  • Serve as a DBA for multiple customers, supporting database migrations, high availability and disaster recovery, clustering, monitoring, backup and recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Manage multiple long-term Azure data services projects concurrently.
  • Scope, plan, implement, document, and present solutions to customers.
  • Provide cost-effective Azure platforms that meet customer requirements.
  • Work across development, test, and production environments to support customer needs.
  • Assist with security definitions, roles, and Azure data service provisioning in the cloud.
  • Manage client expectations around scope, cost, and timeline.
  • Produce high-quality project documentation and written case studies.
  • Mentor more junior teammates and support a collaborative problem-solving culture.
  • Support presales efforts by helping define scope estimates when bandwidth allows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, data science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to work both strategically and tactically across different customer environments.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and self-directed.
  • Ability to produce high-quality documentation for internal and external distribution.
  • Multiple years of experience with a major RDBMS such as Oracle or SQL Server, with preference for deep Microsoft product experience.
  • Experience completing database migrations from cloud platforms or on-premises environments to Azure.
  • Moderate experience with OS clustering concepts and technologies.
  • Understanding of security roles and database security implementation.
  • Advanced experience with HA/DR technologies such as Always On AG, Replication, Log Shipping, and Mirroring.
  • Advanced experience with database objects and stored procedures.
  • Advanced experience with performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure solutions and IaC tools such as Bicep or Terraform.
  • Knowledge of cloud ecosystems and emerging cloud technologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter who can work independently or as part of a virtual project team.
  • Preferred: 2+ years of experience designing and implementing logical and physical data models for cloud and hybrid data warehouse environments.
  • Preferred: 2+ years of experience implementing data architectures for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
  • Preferred: 2+ years of experience implementing full life-cycle data warehouses.
  • Preferred: Experience with data architecture for data integration processing.
  • Preferred: Experience with data modeling tools such as ER/Studio or ER/Win.
  • Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Azure Data Platform services including Azure Data Lake Store, Azure Storage, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Logic Apps, and APIs.
  • Preferred: Experience with data profiling and source-to-target mappings.
  • Preferred: Ability to provision and configure Azure data service resources.
