Description

  • Manage, mentor, and inspire a team of lighting artists while driving quality, productivity, and professional growth.
  • Partner with the Art Director and department leads to establish and maintain lighting visual style and quality standards.
  • Develop and optimize efficient lighting workflows, research new techniques, and resolve technical roadblocks.
  • Work with the Core Tech Team to meet technical specifications and runtime optimization goals for real-time rendering engines.
  • Partner with production to define timelines, track progress, manage priorities, and align work with strategic goals.
  • Collaborate across design, art, engineering, animation, and audio teams to support creative goals and solve development challenges.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in real-time lighting and final rendering.
  • Experience serving as a Lead Artist on at least one shipped AAA title.
  • Practical knowledge of Unreal Engine 5, Lumen lighting tools, UE Sequencer, and Physically Based Rendering (PBR).
  • Experience lighting in-game cinematics and optimizing high-quality lighting within runtime performance constraints.
  • Proven experience managing, recruiting, mentoring, and retaining artistic talent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.
  • Experience working in cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to stay effective under pressure, ambiguity, and fast-changing priorities.
  • Strong ownership, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Open to feedback, eager to learn, and able to deliver quick revisions based on new constraints.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $150,400 to $222,580 USD annually in California.
  • Bonus and/or equity awards may be included.
