Description

  • Lead a team of 5 to 10 engineers and drive the team’s day-to-day operations and ceremonies.
  • Unblock engineers, clarify priorities, and ensure the team understands what to deliver and why it matters to users.
  • Own team performance management, professional well-being, mentoring, and career development.
  • Review engineering work, provide technical direction, and contribute hands-on code when needed.
  • Support release processes, monitor deployments, and uphold production branch standards.
  • Lead pull request reviews and provide clear, constructive feedback that improves technical quality.
  • Drive technical design discussions and align architecture and implementation decisions with the team.
  • Own the technical roadmap, assess technical debt, and keep systems healthy and scalable.
  • Work with the Technical Product Owner and UI/UX Designer to define, plan, and structure sprints and roadmap priorities.
  • Manage incoming support work and balance customer-facing requests with sprint commitments.
  • Communicate clearly upward, downward, and sideways to align leadership, engineers, and other Houses.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience leading an engineering team, typically 5+ engineers, in a delivery-focused environment.
  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
  • Strong hands-on technical background with the ability to review code and guide design decisions.
  • Experience owning delivery and execution, including sprint planning, backlog management, and release readiness.
  • AI-driven mindset with a default to AI-assisted development while maintaining quality and consistency.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, and growing engineers through feedback and performance management.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate business context into technical direction.
  • Experience working in a SaaS, cloud-native, or distributed systems environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Node.js for backend services, APIs, or real-time systems.
  • Strong hands-on experience with React, including complex state management and performance optimization.
  • Solid experience designing and operating systems in cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Practical experience with Kubernetes, including cluster architecture, workload orchestration, and production troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking fundamentals, including VPCs, subnets, routing, load balancing, security groups, DNS, and service discovery.
  • Clear understanding of cross-cloud networking patterns such as peering, private links, VPNs, and hybrid networking.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or similar.
  • Understanding of distributed systems concepts including consistency, availability, observability, and fault tolerance.
  • Strong knowledge of system reliability, performance tuning, and production incident management.
  • Experience in cloud-native applications is a plus.
  • Experience with more than one cloud provider is a plus.
  • Experience scaling teams, processes, or technical systems as an organization grows is a plus.
