Description

  • Lead a team of 5 to 10 engineers and manage the team’s day-to-day operations and ceremonies.
  • Unblock engineers quickly and ensure the team is clear on priorities, deliverables, and user value.
  • Own team performance, provide continuous feedback, mentoring, and support career development.
  • Support high-quality production releases by monitoring deployments and upholding production branch standards.
  • Review pull requests and provide clear, actionable, and constructive technical feedback.
  • Lead technical design discussions and align architecture and implementation approaches.
  • Own the technical roadmap, assess technical debt, and ensure the team’s components remain scalable and healthy.
  • Work with the Technical Product Owner and UI/UX Designer to plan sprints and structure delivery.
  • Balance sprint commitments with customer-facing support work while maintaining healthy execution.
  • Communicate upward, downward, and sideways to align leadership, engineers, and other Houses.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience leading an engineering team of typically 5+ engineers in a delivery-focused environment.
  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
  • Strong hands-on technical background with the ability to review code and guide design decisions.
  • Experience owning delivery and execution, including sprint planning, backlog management, and release readiness.
  • AI-driven mindset with a default toward using AI while ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and grow engineers through feedback and performance management.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate business context into technical direction.
  • Experience working in a SaaS, cloud-native, or distributed systems environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Node.js or Golang for backend services, APIs, or real-time systems.
  • Strong hands-on experience with React for complex state management, performance optimization, and large-scale front-end applications.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python and SQL for data modeling and time series work.
  • Deep understanding of modern web architecture, including SPA frameworks and client-server communication patterns.
  • Experience designing and operating systems in cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or similar.
  • Understanding of distributed systems concepts including consistency, availability, observability, and fault tolerance.
  • Strong knowledge of system reliability, performance tuning, and production incident management.
  • Experience in cloud-native applications is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with more than one cloud provider is a plus.
  • Background in scaling teams, processes, or technical systems as an organization grows is a plus.
