Description

  • Lead a team of 5 to 10 engineers and run the team’s day-to-day operations and ceremonies.
  • Unblock engineers quickly and maintain focus on clear, value-driven delivery.
  • Own team performance management, feedback, mentoring, professional growth, and career development.
  • Support code reviews, release processes, deployment monitoring, and production branch standards.
  • Lead technical design discussions and guide architecture and implementation decisions.
  • Drive the team’s technical roadmap, identify technical debt, and keep systems scalable and healthy.
  • Partner with the Technical Product Owner and UI/UX Designer to define, plan, and structure sprints.
  • Maintain a house-level roadmap aligned with product priorities and business objectives.
  • Balance sprint commitments with customer support needs by prioritizing and coordinating ticket resolution.
  • Collaborate with leadership and other teams through clear upward, downward, and cross-team communication.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience leading an engineering team of typically 5+ engineers in a delivery-focused environment.
  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
  • Strong hands-on technical background with the ability to review code and guide design decisions.
  • Experience owning delivery and execution, including sprint planning, backlog management, and release readiness.
  • AI-driven mindset with an expectation to default to AI while ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and grow engineers through regular feedback and performance management.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate business context into technical direction.
  • Experience working in a SaaS, cloud-native, or distributed systems environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Node.js or Golang for backend services, APIs, or real-time systems.
  • Strong hands-on experience with React for complex state management, performance optimization, and large-scale front-end applications.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python and SQL for data modeling and time series work.
  • Deep understanding of modern web architecture, SPA frameworks, client-server communication, and browser performance considerations.
  • Solid experience designing and operating systems in cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or similar.
  • Understanding of distributed systems concepts including consistency, availability, observability, and fault tolerance.
  • Strong knowledge of system reliability, performance tuning, and production incident management.
  • Bonus: experience in cloud-native applications.
  • Bonus: hands-on experience with more than one cloud provider.
  • Bonus: experience scaling teams, processes, or technical systems as an organization grows.
