Description

  • Lead a team of 5 to 10 engineers and drive the team’s day-to-day operations and ceremonies.
  • Unblock engineers quickly and keep the team focused on clear, valuable, and achievable delivery.
  • Own team members’ professional well-being, career development, performance management, feedback, and mentoring.
  • Support production releases by monitoring deployments and upholding standards for the production branch.
  • Review pull requests and provide clear, constructive feedback that improves technical quality.
  • Lead technical design discussions and help align architecture and implementation decisions.
  • Own the team’s technical roadmap, assess technical debt, and keep systems healthy and scalable.
  • Partner with the Technical Product Owner and UI/UX Designer to plan sprints and structure delivery.
  • Align engineering work with broader business objectives and communicate priorities and escalations clearly to leadership.
  • Balance sprint commitments with customer support needs while maintaining healthy execution.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience leading an engineering team of typically 5+ engineers in a delivery-focused environment.
  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
  • Strong hands-on technical background with the ability to review code and guide design decisions.
  • Experience owning delivery and execution, including sprint planning, backlog management, and release readiness.
  • AI-driven mindset, defaulting to AI while maintaining quality and consistency.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and grow engineers through regular feedback and performance management.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate business context into technical direction.
  • Experience working in a SaaS, cloud-native, or distributed systems environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Node.js or Golang for backend services, APIs, or real-time systems.
  • Strong hands-on experience with React for complex state management and performance optimization.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python and SQL, including data modeling and time series work.
  • Deep understanding of modern web architecture, SPA frameworks, client-server communication, and browser performance.
  • Solid experience designing and operating systems in cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or similar.
  • Understanding of distributed systems concepts including consistency, availability, observability, and fault tolerance.
  • Strong knowledge of system reliability, performance tuning, and production incident management.
  • Bonus: experience in cloud-native applications.
  • Bonus: hands-on experience with more than one cloud provider.
  • Bonus: background in scaling teams, processes, or technical systems as the organization grows.
