Description

  • Architect, implement, and tune advanced control strategies such as Model Predictive Control for pipeline systems.
  • Design state machines for operational mode management, including fail-safe conditions, safety checks, and protective interlocks.
  • Outline and execute test plans to validate controller performance and safety requirements.
  • Perform root cause analyses and troubleshoot errors or undesired behaviors in simulation and production environments.
  • Create and maintain tools for data analysis, system identification, and model tuning.
  • Enable rapid integration and deployment of Crux products by developing playbooks and standardizing processes.
  • Ensure deliverables meet the safety and reliability standards required in heavy industry environments.
  • Develop trust-based relationships with client-side operators and technical leads.
  • Align cross-functional teams across Deployment, Product, and Engineering to support project delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Post-graduate studies focusing on advanced control systems or MPC are preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility to obtain licensure in Canada.
  • Experience with control system design, controller tuning, simulation-based testing, data processing and analysis, and system integration.
  • Familiarity with system identification to develop empirical models of input-output relationships.
  • Experience writing specification documents and technical reports.
  • Proficiency with Python and version control software such as GitHub.
  • Understanding of hydraulic theory, fluid dynamics, numerical methods, and optimization algorithms or dynamic programming is considered an asset.
  • Experience with OPC communication protocols and/or SCADA systems is considered an asset.
  • Experience with DNV Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS) or Atmos Simulation Suite for transient pipeline simulations is considered an asset.
