Description

  • Lead software architecture and infrastructure development for onboard model consolidation across multiple onboard subsystems.
  • Design and build an onboard framework for flexible and efficient model integration and inference in onboard and simulation environments.
  • Align and unify model data generation between training data preparation and model inference.
  • Develop simulation solutions for robust testing, efficient evaluation, and validation of consolidated models.
  • Work closely with model teams to drive productionization of unified models.
  • Establish software development best practices and technologies that accelerate model development and releases.
  • Improve system debuggability, developer experience, and API design through cross-cutting architecture work.
  • Contribute to the convergence of planner and perception systems and shared infrastructure components.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software development experience on large-scale products.
  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Physics, Math, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience designing and building large-scale, high-performance C++ software architecture for mission-critical systems or ML inference.
  • Proven track record of leading complex, cross-functional engineering projects as a technical lead.
  • Deep understanding of ML deployment, inference frameworks, and associated developer tooling.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-org partner teams.
  • Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with data pipelines and feature extraction for machine learning models preferred.
  • Prior experience in the autonomous driving industry, especially onboard compute, perception, or planning systems, preferred.
  • Experience with hardware accelerators such as TPUs or GPUs and ML inference in edge/onboard environments preferred.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $251,000 to $310,000 USD.
  • Eligibility for Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program.
