Description

  • Hire, onboard, coach, and retain engineers while building a strong team culture.
  • Run effective 1:1s, performance reviews, development plans, and career pathing conversations.
  • Address performance issues early with clarity and fairness.
  • Own team delivery health, including planning, prioritisation, sequencing, execution, and release readiness.
  • Operate the team’s delivery cadence using sprint-based or flow/kanban methods as appropriate.
  • Drive clarity of work through crisp tickets, acceptance criteria, dependency mapping, and risk management.
  • Replace heroics with repeatable systems, guardrails, automation, documentation, and quality mechanisms.
  • Partner with Product, Data, Infra, and business stakeholders to turn objectives into deliverable plans.
  • Communicate tradeoffs, timelines, risks, and delivery status clearly to executives and stakeholders.
  • Support technical direction by partnering with senior technical leaders on architecture, tech debt, reliability, and security.

Requirements

  • 5–10+ years in software engineering with 3–5+ years in formal people-management roles.
  • Proven ability to improve delivery predictability and team performance, not just ship individual projects.
  • Experience redesigning team culture away from hero-dependency toward scalable, system-driven execution.
  • Strong coaching ability with experience growing engineers, leads, and future managers.
  • Comfort operating with ambiguity and translating messy goals into an execution plan.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including stakeholder management across time zones.
  • Preferred: experience with distributed teams across PH and AU, including cultural and communication nuance.
  • Preferred: familiarity with CI/CD, incident management, observability, and testing strategies.
  • Preferred: experience in retail, e-commerce, ERP-integrated, or operationally heavy environments.
