Description

  • Co-design and build Service-Oriented Architecture components that manage the lifecycle of semantic data, including ingestion, abstraction, curation, publication, versioning, governance, and distribution.
  • Develop and deploy ETL pipelines that lift instance-level data into formal vocabularies while capturing complex relationships, properties, and constraints.
  • Build and maintain services that project a living ontology across the Tetra ecosystem, enabling semantic meaning to evolve with data and usage.
  • Integrate external vocabularies and in-flight data to define formal terminologies, vocabularies, and ontologies and enable their curation and modeling.
  • Implement vocabulary management capabilities to version, deprecate, migrate, and distribute semantic resources across customers.
  • Co-design data exchange “handshake” protocols, mapping, and transformation logic to ensure deterministic syntactic and semantic interoperability between platform components.
  • Partner with Scientific Data Engineers, Architects, and Business Leads to integrate semantic artifacts technically and provide subject-matter expertise on governance of controlled vocabularies.
  • Serve as the informatics SME and mentor technical team members—software engineers and scientists—on applying semantic artifacts to give data formal definitions, meaning, and context.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in Informatics (Clinical, Health, Bio, Chemi, etc.) or equivalent formal academic training.
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with production code delivery and practical knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), CI/CD, and testing patterns.
  • Proven experience developing and exchanging data in Common Data Models and having built or significantly extended standards such as FHIR, OMOP, Allotrope, or CDISC.
  • Demonstrated experience with Service-Oriented Architecture or microservices patterns and handling data consistency and contract evolution in distributed systems.
  • Experience working with formal vocabularies and ontologies (e.g., OBO, SNOMED, LOINC, RxNorm, CDISC Vocabulary Standards, BioPortal) and normalizing instance-level disparate data to semantic standards.
  • Familiarity with semantic artifact formats and languages such as OBO, OWL, and SPARQL, and knowledge of semantic standards (e.g., FHIR Module 4, ISO 17117, SKOS).
  • Strong formal modeling discipline, including modeling cardinality, semantic properties, and relationships rather than simple tagging of data.
  • Experience building ETL/data engineering solutions, and implementing versioning, governance, and migration processes for semantic resources.
