Description

  • Architect and implement credit policies using Stripe’s proprietary data and selected industry data to target, price, and size capital products.
  • Provide credit risk recommendations, analytical insights, and support for strategic business decisions.
  • Collaborate with Product, Data Science, Engineering, and Capital Markets on new product development across geographies and industries.
  • Incorporate third-party data such as bureau, bank account, financial statement, and other alternative sources into credit assessments.
  • Analyze account activity and monitor portfolio trends to identify and reduce potential credit losses.
  • Help scale risk processes by designing and optimizing outsourced workflows with partners.
  • Drive changes to the risk and underwriting framework to strengthen Stripe’s credit policy.
  • Manage end-to-end risk initiatives with autonomy on a small, lean team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in credit analysis and underwriting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, statistics, or a related field.
  • Experience in risk management, financial lending, or a core credit risk management function.
  • Strong analytical skills and a rigorous, data-driven approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience working with internal and external stakeholders and managing expectations and deliverables in a timely manner.
  • Ability to thrive in an unstructured and fast-moving organization.
  • Strong technical expertise including SQL, Excel, and Google Sheets.
  • Self-starter who can work independently.
  • Experience with quantitative tools such as Python, R, or Stata (preferred).
  • Master’s degree in finance, economics, statistics, or a related field (preferred).
  • Superior communication and relationship management skills (preferred).
  • Experience with credit scoring models (preferred).
  • Experience working with machine learning teams (preferred).
  • Ability to communicate results clearly with a focus on driving impact (preferred).
