Description

  • Deliver one-on-one and small-group structured literacy instruction over video.
  • Support students with decoding, fluency, spelling, and reading comprehension.
  • Monitor student progress using running records, curriculum-based measures, and other reading assessments.
  • Adjust instruction and intervention plans based on student progress and assessment data.
  • Collaborate with academic guides and athletic coaches to apply accommodations consistently across the school day.
  • Communicate regularly with parents about strategies, progress, and next steps.
  • Coach parents on ways to reinforce reading skills at home.
  • Support students in using text-to-speech, audiobooks, and other accessibility tools effectively.
  • Ensure classroom accommodations translate successfully into the online learning environment.

Requirements

  • Direct experience supporting students with dyslexia or related reading differences, with examples of measurable reading gains.
  • Training in Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, LETRS, or a comparable structured literacy program.
  • Ability to interpret student assessment data, identify instructional next steps, and communicate plans clearly.
  • Comfort working with student-athletes in a competitive athletic environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in education, special education, reading, speech-language pathology, or a related field.
  • Must be located in the U.S. for this remote role.
  • Preferred: prior experience teaching, tutoring, or supporting students in a fully virtual setting.
  • Preferred: Certified Academic Language Therapist or equivalent certification such as CALT or CALP.
  • Preferred: background in sports or athletics.
  • Preferred: bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.
