Description

  • Define and maintain projects, milestones, and roadmaps while practicing flexible prioritization and scope management to meet program directives.
  • Lead strategic evaluation and analysis of peering and transit opportunities, balancing cost efficiency, performance, and routing control across global markets.
  • Identify and secure global peering opportunities and build/maintain technical and commercial relationships with peering partners.
  • Design and maintain peering policies, including traffic management, route filtering, redundancy planning, and failover strategies.
  • Lead global Internet Exchange (IX) strategy, including location selection, capacity planning, and onboarding of new interconnects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (subsystem engineers, software developers, operations) to ensure seamless integration of interconnection implementations.
  • Interact with stakeholders to gather requirements, incorporate inputs, and deliver improvements to peering processes.
  • Develop and implement automation and operationalization of interconnection workflows, including route validation, telemetry, incident response, lifecycle tracking, and monitoring systems.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in network infrastructure (peering, interconnection engineering, backbone architecture).
  • Experience with BGP, IP routing, and network telemetry.
  • Experience with Internet Exchange Points (IXPs), colocation environments, optical transport, and traffic engineering strategies.
  • Preferred: 10+ years designing, building, and optimizing internet interconnects and peering systems.
  • Experience identifying, negotiating, and executing legal agreements and contractual requirements related to interconnection.
  • Experience building systems to support and maintain peering/interconnections and real-time monitoring and alerting for interconnect performance and routing anomalies.
  • Extensive professional network within the global ISP, IXP, and content distribution communities (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Starlink-style distributed systems and the intersection of terrestrial and orbital network layers (preferred).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation and stakeholder reporting.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and globally (~10–15%), participate in on-call rotations, and work extended hours as needed.
  • ITAR eligibility: U.S. citizen, U.S. lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or otherwise eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

  • Base salary range $160,000–$220,000 per year for Network Engineer/Senior (actual offer based on experience, skills, and education).
