Description

  • Drive program-level decisions on RF system designs for Starshield satellite communications and hosted payloads.
  • Research and develop novel solutions for large-scale satellite RF systems and architectures.
  • Design, build, validate, and automate RF test benches for full characterization of custom RF designs using lab instrumentation (VNA, VSG, VSA, spectrum analyzers, load pulls, RF power meters, oscilloscopes, etc.).
  • Design and implement modular, scalable RF test infrastructure and test automation sequences in Python and C++ to support design validation, qualification, and production.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware, FPGA, DSP, and software engineers to design, integrate, and validate end-to-end RF systems.
  • Create electromagnetic simulation models of hardware to predict and evaluate RF performance.
  • Iterate rapidly from prototype/demo to operational capability, supporting fast-paced development and deployment cycles.
  • Troubleshoot interactions between software and hardware, including network devices and lab instrumentation, to resolve system-level issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or other engineering discipline (Master’s preferred).
  • 8+ years of professional development experience in C/C++ or Python.
  • Experience with radio test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, vector signal analyzers (VSA), vector signal generators (VSG), and network/ vector network analyzers (VNA).
  • RF experience with antennas or communication systems and experience testing active and passive RF devices (filters, amplifiers, mixers, up/downconverters).
  • Familiarity with RF concepts including gain, linearity, P1dB, ACLR, EVM, PAE, S-parameters, and input/output matching.
  • Experience with software design principles, software architecture, design patterns, and unit/integration testing methodology.
  • Experience with environmental test methodologies and equipment (thermal chambers, temperature forcing systems).
  • Experience using Windows and Linux operating systems and with configuration management/version control tools.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Active Top Secret or Top Secret SCI clearance (active clearance preferred; must be willing to pursue clearance if not already cleared).
  • Must meet ITAR eligibility (U.S. citizen/national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or be eligible to obtain required authorizations) and be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

Benefits

  • Base pay range $200,000 - $270,000 per year for RF Software Engineer/Principal.
  • 10% pay differential for active TS/SCI clearance, up to an additional $15,000 annually, once briefed into a classified program.
