Description

  • Develop and perform acceptance testing of manufacturing processes, techniques, and tools for efficient high-rate production.
  • Design and implement precision tooling to prevent assembly errors, improve quality, and reduce cycle time.
  • Automate novel manufacturing processes to ensure repeatability on high-rate production lines.
  • Collaborate with design engineering teams to incorporate design-for-manufacturing improvements into flight design and vehicle architecture.
  • Develop and automate in-situ inspection techniques to increase yield and reduce cycle time.
  • Manage the transition of parts and assemblies from development into high-rate production.
  • Challenge and simplify requirements to optimize manufacturing processes and reduce overhead.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in aerospace engineering, manufacturing engineering, materials engineering, mechanical engineering, or another engineering discipline.
  • 1+ years of manufacturing and process design experience; internship and academic experience are acceptable.
  • Master's degree in an engineering discipline (preferred).
  • Hands-on project experience with mixed value stream or high-rate manufacturing lines, with a focus on maximizing yield and increasing rate (preferred).
  • Proficiency in mechanical assembly methods, testing, failure mode effects analysis, and troubleshooting (preferred).
  • Experience with integration and testing of propulsion, thermal, electrical, and/or structural systems (preferred).
  • Prior experience developing, maintaining, and improving weld processes and weld inspection techniques, including automation (preferred).
  • Experience using SQL or other data management structures to inform priorities and measure performance (preferred).
  • Ability to meet extensive physical job requirements, including standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting, climbing, working in confined spaces, and lifting/pushing specified weights.
  • Ability to work in extreme outdoor environments, around fumes, odors, and noise, with schedule flexibility as needed.
  • Flexibility to travel to remote build sites up to 10%.
  • Must be eligible under ITAR requirements as a U.S. citizen/national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or otherwise authorized by the U.S. Department of State.
