Description

  • Own the company’s global privacy and data protection program across domestic and international jurisdictions.
  • Advise on GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA/CPRA, international transfers, and evolving privacy regulations.
  • Manage data subject requests, vendor and subprocessor diligence, privacy notices, consent management, and policy processes.
  • Conduct and oversee DPIAs, transfer impact assessments, data mapping, inventories, retention schedules, and related documentation.
  • Embed with product and engineering teams on privacy-by-design, data residency, telemetry, encryption, access controls, AI, and data retention issues.
  • Own DPA strategy and negotiate privacy and security terms in customer and vendor agreements.
  • Partner with Security and GRC on security commitments, audits, certifications, incident response, breach notifications, and tabletop exercises.
  • Deliver privacy and security training and report privacy and security risks to leadership, the Board, and audit functions.
  • Manage outside counsel, privacy vendors, EU representative and DPO relationships, and build the privacy team as the program grows.

Requirements

  • Strong academic credentials and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
  • 7–10+ years of relevant legal experience, including strong training at a top-rated national or international law firm.
  • Law firm and in-house experience at a high-growth B2B SaaS company, preferably in data infrastructure.
  • Significant experience advising on domestic and international privacy and data protection matters.
  • Deep knowledge of GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA/CPRA, U.S. state and international privacy laws, and cross-border data transfer requirements.
  • Experience advising product and technical teams across the product lifecycle; AI, machine learning, and emerging technology experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting customer-facing security commitments, security incidents, and related regulatory requirements preferred.
  • Excellent judgment, business orientation, communication, and ability to translate complex legal issues into practical guidance.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Benefits

  • Targeted base salary of $260,000–$295,000.
