Description

  • Own and evolve Breeze’s fraud risk engine across all merchant categories.
  • Design and maintain a scalable rules architecture with defaults, merchant overrides, velocity checks, and blocklists.
  • Tune fraud thresholds and features across merchant segments to improve approval rates and reduce fraud.
  • Build feedback loops between manual review, chargeback data, and model retraining.
  • Partner with risk operations to convert fraud patterns into automated rules and systems.
  • Lead onboarding of new merchants into the risk stack and solve cold-start risk challenges.
  • Monitor and improve fraud KPIs including approval rate, chargeback rate, and false positive rate.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations to keep risk systems scalable and well integrated.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in fraud or risk engineering in fintech, payments, or related technology environments.
  • Proven experience integrating fraud detection platforms such as Sift, Sardine, Forter, Feedzai, or Kount.
  • Experience operating multi-merchant or marketplace fraud systems with segmentation and per-merchant customization.
  • Strong understanding of payments infrastructure, transaction flows, and fraud vectors.
  • Deep operational fraud knowledge, including manual review workflows, chargeback handling, and false positive analysis.
  • Strong understanding of rules engine design, including layered rules, velocity checks, and scalable rule management.
  • Ability to own systems end-to-end from design through production and iteration.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with PCI compliance, 3DS, and PSP-level risk tooling is a plus.
  • Experience in high-risk verticals such as gaming, crypto, or digital goods is a plus.
