Description

  • Architect, design, develop, and maintain SmithRx product features across a varied technology stack, including Golang, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node, GraphQL, and SQL.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and technical leads to translate requirements into scalable software and produce technical design documentation with scope and risk assessments.
  • Build deterministic safety rails around LLMs to manage, validate, and wrap AI outputs for accurate healthcare data handling.
  • Apply and enforce software development best practices, design patterns, testing, automation, coding standards, and emerging AI development tools.
  • Leverage AWS services such as Lambda, Managed Kafka, and EKS to support jobs and batch processing.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform triage, assess impact, implement mitigation plans, and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Mentor junior engineers on backend fundamentals and AI-native development patterns while driving code review quality and technical excellence.
  • Work with senior leadership to translate technical vision into a quarterly roadmap.

Requirements

  • BS or advanced degree in computer science, or equivalent applicable experience.
  • 8+ years of software development experience on server-side applications, especially API servers, third-party integrations, and data processing.
  • Expertise in a compiled language such as Go or Java is required.
  • Proficiency with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including schema design, SQL tuning, and database monitoring, is required.
  • Working knowledge of GraphQL APIs, CI/CD pipelines, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes is preferred.
  • Experience with agentic frameworks, MCP, LLM APIs such as Anthropic or OpenAI, and prompt engineering/evals.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical trade-offs and mentor a distributed team.
  • Ability to design for scale, performance, and maintainability in a high-growth startup environment.
  • Positive, team-first attitude with flexibility and comfort navigating ambiguity.
  • Experience at a high-growth startup is preferred.
