Description

  • Design and execute SkySlope’s security engineering program and roadmap.
  • Own security domains including identity, authorization, secrets management, device standards, attack-surface governance, secure SDLC, logging, detection, vulnerability disclosure, and AI governance.
  • Prioritize security initiatives and maintain a visible, measurable security-debt backlog.
  • Evaluate security tools and vendors, making build-versus-buy decisions.
  • Lead architecture and design reviews and contribute hands-on through proofs of concept, automation, detection logic, and technical reviews.
  • Hire, coach, and develop security engineers across multiple experience levels.
  • Partner with DevOps, IT, and product engineering to embed practical security standards into development workflows.
  • Apply AI to security review, triage, and detection engineering while defining appropriate guardrails.
  • Communicate program status, risk posture, and progress clearly to executives.
  • Establish milestones and measure delivery, debt reduction, team growth, and reporting quality.

Requirements

  • Senior or staff-level background in security, infrastructure, or platform engineering, with hands-on experience building relevant systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver a security program or comparable cross-functional technical initiative from ambiguity to completion.
  • Working knowledge of cloud IAM, credential federation, secrets management, secure SDLC, detection, and centralized logging.
  • Experience with multi-cloud environments; SkySlope primarily uses AWS, with growing GCP and limited Azure usage.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills, including experience developing early-career engineers.
  • Sound judgment in security tooling and vendor selection, including build-versus-buy decisions.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with executives and engineers.
  • Pragmatic, execution-oriented approach focused on shipped risk reduction.
  • Interest in using AI for security engineering and defining responsible AI guardrails.
  • Ability to manage 2–4 direct reports; certifications and formal credentials are not required.
