Description

  • Define bounded contexts, aggregates, domain events, and service boundaries for the backend domain model.
  • Build and evolve TypeScript/NestJS services using Domain-Driven Design and ports-and-adapters patterns.
  • Own GraphQL APIs, Postgres data models, and safe schema and migration evolution.
  • Design reliable event-driven systems with durability, idempotency, retries, and appropriate distributed-system boundaries.
  • Direct and review AI-generated code while improving development context, standards, tests, and guardrails.
  • Improve engineering quality through code reviews, testing, technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and decision records.
  • Translate ambiguous product needs into systems by partnering with product and engineering teams.
  • Break foundational work into incremental deliverables within the team’s weekly delivery cadence.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of production backend engineering experience, including deep TypeScript and Node.js experience.
  • Hands-on experience applying Domain-Driven Design, including bounded contexts, aggregates, value objects, domain events, and hexagonal architecture.
  • Strong experience designing and owning GraphQL APIs, including schema modeling, batching, pagination, error semantics, and schema evolution.
  • Experience designing event-driven and distributed systems, including at-least-once delivery, idempotency, ordering, retries, and transactional outbox patterns.
  • Strong relational data modeling and SQL skills, including schema design, live-data migrations, indexing, transactions, and read/write paths.
  • Experience with NestJS or another modern Node.js framework such as Fastify, Express, Hono, AdonisJS, or tRPC.
  • High proficiency with AI coding tools such as Claude Code or comparable agentic coding systems.
  • Strong testing practices focused on domain-level testability, appropriate test doubles, and targeted integration tests.
  • Excellent written and visual technical communication, including architecture records, domain glossaries, diagrams, and standards.
  • Ability to work autonomously and overlap with the US-based team until at least 1:00 PM Eastern; familiarity with tools such as Postgres, Prisma, GCP, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Pulumi, Nx, Bun, or Zod is preferred.
