Description

  • Proactively grow the specialty pharmacy patient population by making outbound phone calls to eligible patients and enrolling them with Shields Partner Pharmacy.
  • Educate patients on the services offered by the Shields Specialty Pharmacy Program and explain benefits of the Shields care model.
  • Access patients' EMR and review chart notes prior to outbound calls to ensure familiarity with the patient's condition and situation.
  • Communicate clearly over the phone and provide compelling reasons why patients should use Shields pharmacy.
  • Identify medications requiring special storage and/or handling (e.g., hazardous or refrigerated medications).
  • Identify and arrange necessary supplies for select medications (e.g., sharps containers, needles/syringes, alcohol swabs, band-aids).
  • Quickly build rapport and empathize with patients while proactively engaging them telephonically and advocating for their needs.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and uphold Shields' values when handling patient information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 0–1 years' experience as a Pharmacy Technician or related experience.
  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree or PTCB/ExCPT license is strongly preferred.
  • National certification from PTCB or equivalent is strongly preferred; applicants without certification must commit to obtaining required licensure within a mutually agreed timeframe (continued employment contingent on meeting requirements).
  • Strong verbal communication and phone skills with ability to present compelling reasons to patients.
  • Prior customer service and outbound call experience.
  • Ability to quickly build rapport, empathize with patients, and proactively engage them telephonically.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work effectively in an independent environment with a focus on patient advocacy.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, prioritization, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook, and able to learn new processes quickly.
