Description

  • Define and execute the multi-year trade compliance strategy, policies, SOPs, and internal controls across regions.
  • Own importer-of-record programs and oversee day-to-day U.S., Canada, and Australia customs execution, including entries, ISF, reconciliation, and records management.
  • Engage directly with customs authorities to support timely and accurate clearances.
  • Lead a global center of excellence for one trade specialty such as classification, origin, valuation, or duty optimization.
  • Maintain rulings and master data and provide guidance and coaching to regional teams on complex determinations.
  • Drive duty-optimization and preferential trade initiatives, including tariff engineering, USMCA/FTA programs, Chapter 98, drawback, First Sale for Export, and Section 232 compliance.
  • Monitor trade laws, sanctions, and trade-remedy actions and brief executives on impacts, options, and company responses.
  • Manage customs brokers, outside counsel, and consultants for rulings, interpretations, and specialized matters.
  • Oversee trade data quality in ERP/GTM systems and develop dashboards, controls, and executive reporting.
  • Lead the roadmap to achieve and sustain CTPAT Importer certification and support limited export-control and sanctions compliance for occasional outbound shipments.
  • Influence sourcing, engineering, logistics, and commercial decisions, including support for new products, sourcing changes, systems projects, and M&A due diligence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive trade compliance experience with substantial hands-on U.S. customs ownership and cross-regional leadership.
  • U.S. Licensed Customs Broker strongly preferred.
  • CCS/CES or similar certifications are a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of 19 CFR, HTSUS, ACE, USMCA, AD/CVD, Section 232, First Sale for Export, and U.S. export-control and sanctions frameworks.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, especially Oracle, and GTM solutions.
  • Experience using ACE and CARM portals.
  • Strong data-analysis skills and comfort building or using dashboards.
  • Proven ability to advise executives, set enterprise standards, and lead change across functions and regions.
  • Solid understanding of end-to-end logistics and Incoterms.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% domestically and occasionally internationally.
