Description

  • Prepare Helios systems for shipment, relocation, installation, bring-up, validation, and customer acceptance.
  • Serve as the deployment subject-matter expert for atomic physics, trapped-ion operations, and qubit performance.
  • Own quantum-system performance criteria, verification, validation, and customer acceptance testing.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues across quantum hardware, controls, software, optics, vacuum systems, electronics, and site infrastructure.
  • Lead technical decisions during integration and validation activities at Quantinuum and customer locations.
  • Support Helios system integration, commissioning, and shipment readiness before deployment.
  • Provide remote support and on-site service for deployed Helios systems.
  • Train internal teams and customer personnel on deployment, validation, operational readiness, and best practices.
  • Improve deployment documentation, test plans, troubleshooting guides, configuration records, and validation processes.
  • Partner with engineering, product, operations, and service teams to incorporate field feedback into future systems.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. required.
  • 7+ years of relevant post-graduate experience, including M.S. or Ph.D. experience, in atomic physics, trapped-ion systems, quantum computing, advanced experimental physics, or a related field.
  • Ability to complete extensive international travel and extended customer-site deployments lasting weeks to months.
  • Must be a U.S. person: U.S. citizen, permanent resident/green card holder, or individual granted asylum or refugee status.
  • Must not be a People's Republic of China or Russian national unless also a U.S. citizen.
  • Deep knowledge of trapped-ion technology, high-performance quantum computing, and hardware integration and validation.
  • Experience with lasers, laser cooling, atom trapping, cryogenics, ultra-high vacuum systems, electronics, laboratory hardware control, Python, physical modeling, and data analysis.
  • Demonstrated atomic physics R&D record through publications, program execution, and/or launched products.
  • Ability to work effectively across global teams, customer sites, laboratory environments, and deployment settings.
  • Strong documentation, communication, collaboration, and technical decision-making skills.
