Description

  • Lead the deployment, management, and optimisation of SAN and NAS storage environments.
  • Oversee backup solutions to ensure reliable, secure, and compliant data protection.
  • Drive capacity planning, forecasting, and performance tuning activities for storage and backup systems.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and restoration procedures and conduct regular recovery simulations and backup testing.
  • Manage replication, snapshot policies, multipath configuration, zoning, masking, and recovery validation processes.
  • Lead troubleshooting and incident response for storage- and backup-related issues and support audit activities with timely remediation.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of architectures, operational procedures, and SLA/service review outputs.
  • Collaborate with server, database, network, and application teams to ensure seamless data availability and restore/throughput planning.
  • Manage vendor relationships and coordinate with third-party support providers, including secure decommissioning of end-of-life storage hardware.
  • Mentor and guide L2 Support Analysts and contribute to continuous improvement and optimisation initiatives.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of SAN and NAS architectures (examples: HPE, Dell EMC, NetApp, VMware vSAN, Cisco HyperFlex or similar).
  • Strong understanding of fabric management (examples: Cisco, Brocade) and experience with provisioning, multipath configuration, zoning, and masking.
  • Expertise in replication technologies, snapshot management, recovery testing, and disaster recovery simulations.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise backup platforms (example: Rubrik or comparable solutions) including application-consistent backups.
  • Proven experience in data migration, lifecycle management, and secure decommissioning of storage hardware.
  • Solid understanding of storage security and access control principles and compliance/data retention requirements.
  • Capacity planning, cost optimisation, and forecasting skills for storage and backup environments.
  • Experience collaborating with infrastructure and database teams on throughput and restore planning.
  • Ability to mentor and develop junior team members and coordinate with vendors/third-party support providers.
