Description

  • Manage end-to-end ocean transportation activities from customer award through shipment execution and final delivery.
  • Coordinate FCL, LCL, breakbulk, out-of-gauge, and specialized cargo shipments.
  • Arrange ocean freight bookings and manage vessel schedules, cargo readiness, shipping deadlines, and milestones.
  • Monitor shipments and resolve delays, documentation issues, and operational challenges.
  • Prepare, review, and coordinate bills of lading, shipping instructions, packing lists, and other shipping documents.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, carriers, freight agents, terminals, customs brokers, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Maintain accurate shipment records in company operating systems and improve documentation workflows.
  • Obtain and review freight rates and quotations; monitor costs and mitigate demurrage, detention, storage, and other avoidable expenses.
  • Communicate shipment status, schedule changes, risks, and documentation requirements to stakeholders.
  • Assist with carrier invoice discrepancies and other freight-forwarding activities as needed.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in international ocean freight forwarding or ocean transportation operations.
  • Experience coordinating ocean import and/or export shipments.
  • Strong knowledge of ocean freight booking procedures, documentation, vessel schedules, port operations, and international shipping deadlines.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple shipments and competing deadlines in a remote environment.
  • Experience working with ocean carriers, freight agents, and Project Managers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and freight forwarding or transportation management systems.
  • Strong organizational, attention-to-detail, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with project cargo, breakbulk, heavy-lift, oversized, or out-of-gauge shipments (preferred).
  • Experience with CargoWise or similar freight forwarding software (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Incoterms, international trade documentation, customs clearance, freight cost management, and carrier rate negotiations (preferred).

Benefits

  • Annual salary of $60,000–$80,000.
  • Fully remote work arrangement within the United States.
  • Full-time schedule.
