Description

  • Design and implement scalable payment operations processes and controls to ensure reliable reconciliation, dispute handling, and settlement.
  • Oversee operational risk management including onboarding reviews, transaction monitoring, chargebacks, and remediation of operational incidents.
  • Monitor and improve payment performance metrics (approval rates, chargeback ratios, settlement timeliness) to increase merchant trust and retention.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Analytics to automate operational workflows, reduce manual interventions, and embed ops requirements into product design.
  • Collaborate with Support to improve merchant experiences, streamline escalations, and reduce friction.
  • Develop operational playbooks, dashboards, and reporting to provide visibility into performance and risk.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives for payments operations and drive incident response and remediation.
  • Partner with Finance and Compliance on reconciliation, reporting, and regulatory requirements as payments infrastructure evolves.
  • Hire, grow, and mentor a high-performing Payments Operations team over time while being prepared to contribute as an individual contributor initially.

Requirements

  • 8–15 years of experience in payments, fintech, SaaS, or payments operations roles.
  • Direct experience with platform payments or marketplace models (e.g., Stripe, Adyen, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of payment performance levers including fraud, chargebacks, approval optimization, and settlement processes.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and requirements (KYC/KYB, AML, PCI, and card network rules).
  • Hands-on experience in operational risk management: onboarding risk, transaction monitoring, and chargeback workflows.
  • Proven ability to design scalable processes, implement controls, and own operational metrics and reconciliation.
  • Excellent problem-solving and data analysis skills; comfortable using tools and SQL to analyze payments data.
  • Demonstrated cross-functional collaboration with Product, Engineering, Support, and Finance.
  • 2+ years of experience leading or mentoring a team, with willingness to be an individual contributor short-term and an entrepreneurial mindset to thrive in ambiguity.

Benefits

  • Estimated base salary range $165,000–$210,000 plus a generous pre-IPO equity package.
  • Comprehensive health coverage.
  • Remote-first work environment (role open to candidates in the United States or Canada).
  • Unlimited PTO.
  • Additional company perks and programs (described as "extra fun perks").
