Description

  • Lead up to approximately 10 data engineers and GIS specialists across multiple cross-functional teams.
  • Enable engineers to deliver high-quality, reliable data platforms and pipelines on a daily basis.
  • Attract and grow talent by recruiting from your network and supporting team development.
  • Provide regular 1:1 coaching, feedback, and mentorship to help team members thrive.
  • Foster an inclusive, caring, and collaborative team culture.
  • Partner with product managers, machine learning engineers, and other stakeholders on data architecture and platform decisions.
  • Ensure data architecture, pipelines, and data models support product, analytics, and machine learning goals.
  • Work with Product and Engineering leaders to improve data engineering practices and introduce capabilities that improve data access and reliability.
  • Contribute technically when needed by reviewing data models, debugging pipelines, and guiding architecture decisions.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience leading and managing data engineers across multiple teams.
  • Experience working in a high-growth scaleup environment.
  • Demonstrated product mindset and ability to show business impact through data platforms and data-driven systems.
  • Experience with Python and SQL.
  • Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools such as Airflow or Dagster, or similar tools.
  • Experience with data warehouses or lakehouses, Postgres databases, and data pipelines.
  • Comfort working in a build-it, run-it environment such as GCP, Cloud Run, Grafana, and Kubernetes, or similar.
  • Understanding of data reliability, observability, and pipeline operations.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring and coaching engineers at all levels.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Passion for climate-related work.
  • Interest in learning new technologies and staying current with data engineering trends.
  • Experience with maps, imagery, or geospatial domains is a nice to have.
  • Candidates must be able to work from one of the listed countries: United States, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Ireland, Estonia, Portugal, France, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, or Canada.
  • Candidates must be able to work within Europe time zones (GMT/WET, CET, EET) or Eastern North America time zones (NST, AST, EST).
