Description

  • Contribute to the development and continual enhancement of SocietyWorks’ products and services.
  • Build and deliver features to a high standard.
  • Collaborate on technical and functional design, including identifying problems with requirements.
  • Produce clean, efficient code that meets development standards.
  • Test, deploy, debug, and maintain programs and systems.
  • Identify maintenance, security, bug fixes, and improvements for existing software.
  • Provide client-facing support and liaise across teams to resolve complex issues.
  • Work with clients and partners to establish, document, and respond to their needs.
  • Develop roadmaps, prioritise workload effectively, and create technical documentation.
  • Join the on-call rota and support business-critical issues when required.

Requirements

  • Proficient professional experience programming in Python.
  • Willingness to learn Perl; experience in Perl is a bonus.
  • Experience working with databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
  • Experience with version control, preferably Git and GitHub.
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Ability to write and maintain test suites.
  • Experience collaborating on web development projects; client-facing experience is a bonus.
  • Experience with infrastructure for busy web services, such as Linux servers, load balancers, and caches, is an advantage.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and thoughtfully with technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Comfort working in an agile, multidisciplinary team and in a self-directed, responsible manner.
  • Keen to learn, analytical, and able to manage time effectively.
  • Must be based in the UK and have the right to work in the UK.

  • Permanent contract.
  • Salary of £42,000 to £52,000 per year.
  • Pension contribution of 4% employer and 4% employee.
