Description

  • Lead research and development of novel motion planning algorithms and sub-systems for autonomous driving.
  • Expand the Operational Design Domain through advanced search-based, geometry-based, and probabilistic decision-making methods.
  • Lead cross-functional projects to define new interfaces or improve existing ones.
  • Monitor system performance, identify deficiencies, and develop technical strategies to address them.
  • Architect and integrate motion planning and prediction algorithms for evaluation and real-world deployment.
  • Design and build a robust, scalable, high-performance codebase for rapid prototyping and rigorous evaluation.
  • Collaborate with perception, prediction, trajectory optimization, tracking, and control teams to ensure end-to-end system performance.
  • Teach and promote strong software practices and principles across the team.
  • Mentor junior and senior team members and help foster a product-focused engineering culture.

Requirements

  • PhD preferred in Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Master's degree with 7+ years of experience in robotics, preferably in the autonomous vehicle industry.
  • 10+ years of research experience in robotics or motion planning.
  • 5+ years of C++ software development experience focused on high-performance and reliable systems.
  • Proven experience owning complex technical features from problem formulation through research, implementation, and deployment.
  • Track record of contributing to state-of-the-art solutions and leading significant projects.
  • Strong drive for continuous innovation and autonomous driving technology leadership.
  • Experience with probabilistic models such as Gaussian mixture models, Hidden Markov Models, and Particle Filters (preferred).
  • Experience with machine learning techniques such as Bayesian modeling and inference for decision-making under uncertainty (preferred).
  • Experience with the Bazel build framework (preferred).

  • Base salary range of $240,000 to $330,000 USD.
