Description

  • Develop and optimize high-throughput Node.js microservices for low-latency financial data processing.
  • Manage and refine Kafka-based and broader event-driven architecture to preserve data integrity and service decoupling.
  • Maintain and optimize the PostgreSQL data layer, including schema design and query performance.
  • Oversee deployment and operation of services across AWS and GCP using Kubernetes.
  • Identify architectural bottlenecks and implement long-term improvements to system performance and scalability.
  • Act as a technical authority on high-performance backend systems and advise on build-versus-buy and architectural trade-offs.
  • Contribute to the maturity of CI/CD, monitoring, and alerting processes to support 24/7 reliability.
  • Take ownership of major service areas and drive delivery of high-value features aligned with business goals.

Requirements

  • Strong experience building high-throughput, low-latency backend systems in production.
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and performance trade-offs.
  • Hands-on experience designing and operating microservice-based architectures.
  • Solid experience with relational databases, including schema design, query optimisation, and performance tuning, preferably PostgreSQL.
  • Experience deploying and operating services on Kubernetes in AWS and/or GCP.
  • Proven ability to identify architectural bottlenecks and lead meaningful technical improvements.
  • Confidence operating at a senior level, influencing technical direction and making pragmatic trade-offs.
  • Commercial experience with Node.js in high-performance or high-scale environments is helpful but not essential.
  • Experience with Kafka or other event-streaming platforms such as Pulsar, Kinesis, or RabbitMQ is helpful but not essential.
  • Experience operating hybrid or multi-cloud environments, observability tooling, or a background in financial services/fintech is helpful but not essential.
