Description

Schedule and conduct onsite vendor food safety and quality assessments for current and prospective suppliers.
Manage the supplier approval schedule and perform re-evaluation audits at the required frequency.
Assess vendor risks across product categories and applicable USDA, FDA, and quality standards.
Write audit reports, communicate findings, and drive timely closure of nonconformances.
Follow up on corrective action plans to ensure suppliers take appropriate actions to address issues.
Work with suppliers to improve service levels, including compliance with specifications and COA requirements.
Identify, measure, implement, and report on continuous improvement initiatives in the supply chain program.
Develop and evolve food safety and quality risk assessment criteria and supplier qualification programs.
Assist with HACCP and Food Safety Plans as needed.
Analyze complaint data related to raw materials to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
Maintain current programs, policies, procedures, and supplier data within the quality management system.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Meat Science, or a similar science-related field.
5+ years of experience in a quality assurance role in a food manufacturing facility.
Strong technical expertise in auditing and prior experience auditing food companies.
Knowledge of food safety mitigation processing techniques to reduce microbial, chemical, and foreign material hazards.
Familiarity with industries such as dairy, meat and poultry, egg, seafood, and food additives.
Excellent knowledge of HACCP and HARPC, with experience implementing Food Safety Management Plans.
Certification from a recognized HACCP training provider for meat and poultry.
Working knowledge of FDA and USDA regulations, including titles 21 and 9 for GMPs and quality programs.
Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple projects, and travel up to 75%.
Preferred: Prior work experience with FSSC 22000, SQF, or BRC audit schemes, or in a certified facility.
Preferred: Previous experience as a lead auditor or ASQ Certified Auditor.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and strong verbal, written, organization, time management, and decision-making skills.

Salary range of $79,386–$109,155 plus a 15% annual bonus.
