Description

  • Write Python scripts to acquire and process data from academic, government, and commercial sources for product development.
  • Maintain accurate metadata for internal datasets using scripts, automation, and selected tooling.
  • Develop internal tools and scripts to automate data processing and scale ETL tasks for geospatial data using orchestration and cloud technologies.
  • Manage the team’s Git repository of ETL scripts and follow version control best practices to keep code organized, accessible, and reproducible.
  • Optimize data ingestion processes to ensure reliable, timely, and scalable delivery of data into downstream products and analytics workflows.
  • Monitor ingestion pipelines with logging, alerting, and metrics to detect failures or data inconsistencies.
  • Contribute to internal data catalogues, manuals, dictionaries, and glossary content across countries, products, and projects.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement improvements to increase operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with teams in Indonesia and the Netherlands, reporting to the Data Manager in Indonesia.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in a relevant role.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to collect and organize data from multiple sources effectively and efficiently.
  • Understanding of data management and data entry processes.
  • Independent, proactive, accountable, and reliable team player.
  • Full working proficiency in English.
  • Experience building, optimizing, and maintaining scalable ETL/data pipelines, especially for large and complex geospatial datasets.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
  • Strong Python skills and familiarity with data engineering frameworks such as Pandas, Pydantic, Rasterio, and Tippecanoe.
  • Solid understanding of data governance, Git-based version control, documentation, data quality assurance, reproducibility, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Familiarity with GIS scripting such as Python, GeoPandas, and PostGIS, and GIS software like QGIS (advantage).
  • ETL experience (advantage).
  • Demonstrated projects or case studies involving forest monitoring or land-use analysis (advantage).
  • Experience with data version control tools such as DVC (advantage).
  • Start-up experience (advantage).
