Description

  • Build infrastructure as code for product teams to deploy and release Imogen.
  • Pair program and collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and designers.
  • Work with client infrastructure, security, and network teams to deploy Imogen into customer cloud environments.
  • Lead and contribute to technical discovery for existing customer systems and cloud infrastructure.
  • Adapt Imogen to customer public cloud estates.
  • Apply and evolve XP practices including pair programming, test-driven development, refactoring, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.
  • Adapt engineering practices for working with AI tools and agents.
  • Operate and support production applications within an agile DevSecOps model.
  • Help onboard client developers and new Mechanical Orchard team members.
  • Participate in a follow-the-sun on-call rotation for incident response and cloud infrastructure management.

Requirements

  • Professional software engineering experience in a team-based environment.
  • Exposure to or demonstrated passion for XP practices such as pair programming and test-driven development.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software/Computer Engineering or a related field, or equivalent foundational experience such as a coding bootcamp or similar technical training.
  • Strategic thinking, technical skills, and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn new software and technologies quickly.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and empathy for working with development teams, customers, and others.
  • Comfort with pair programming as a default way of working.
  • Experience with or demonstrated passion for cloud infrastructure and related tooling.
  • Comfort building and deploying to cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience with at least one infrastructure-as-code tool and one public cloud provider.
  • Preferred: Experience developing a platform-as-a-service product.
  • Preferred: Experience with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code automation tooling.
  • Preferred: Experience deploying and operating applications on Kubernetes with Helm.
  • Preferred: Experience with Docker and/or Nix for building images and packages.
  • Preferred: Experience building infrastructure scripts and CLI tools using bash, Go, or a similar language.
