Description

  • Lead and mentor a team of 5-6 engineers through technical guidance, performance management, and career development.
  • Own the operations of data lake infrastructure, including S3, Airflow, Kafka/MSK, and Spark/Glue.
  • Maintain operational reliability targets, including 99.5% uptime, and manage the on-call rotation.
  • Drive agile delivery through sprint planning, capacity planning, requirements analysis, and quarterly infrastructure improvements.
  • Gather requirements from data teams, prioritize platform features, and measure adoption and success.
  • Execute technical roadmaps by translating data strategy into concrete project plans with measurable outcomes.
  • Partner with security and compliance teams on governance controls and collaborate with vendors on integrations and platform optimization.
  • Support incident response and operational excellence for production data platforms.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in data engineering or data infrastructure.
  • 2+ years of experience leading technical teams at scale.
  • Deep hands-on experience with AWS data services, including S3, EMR/Glue, Airflow, Kafka/MSK, and data catalog tools.
  • Strong product thinking and experience translating customer requirements into platform capabilities.
  • Proven agile delivery experience, including capacity planning, sprint execution, and requirements analysis.
  • Track record of operational excellence, including on-call management, incident response, and achieving SLAs.
  • Excellent mentoring skills and a passion for developing engineers and building high-performing teams.
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada.
  • Ability to travel quarterly to the United States.
  • Experience in payments or FinTech is preferred.
