Description

  • Provide technical leadership and direction for data engineering efforts, guiding tool, technology, and methodology selection.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define project scope, and create project plans.
  • Support project managers to ensure projects meet timelines, budgets, and quality standards; monitor progress and implement risk mitigation.
  • Oversee design and architecture of data solutions with data architects and stakeholders to ensure scalability, efficiency, and alignment with business needs.
  • Design and advise on data modeling, database design, data integration, and data warehousing approaches.
  • Establish and align coding standards, perform code reviews, and introduce quality assurance processes for data pipelines and workflows.
  • Optimize data processing and storage for performance, efficiency, and cost savings.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies and practices (CI/CD, QA, coding standards) to improve data engineering processes.
  • Maintain and review technical project documentation to ensure validity and compliance with security standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (typically required).
  • 9+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and PySpark.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure cloud data services including Databricks, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Data Lake, and Azure Synapse.
  • Experience with Delta Lake, data lake concepts, data warehousing (DWH), and Spark architecture.
  • Experience building ETL frameworks, data pipelines, and data integration solutions.
  • Knowledge of data management principles including data governance, data quality, and data integration.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps and CI/CD practices.
  • Understanding of data security and privacy regulations and ability to ensure compliance in projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; consulting exposure and external-customer focus preferred; continuous learning mindset.
  • Cloud certifications (e.g., Azure) are advantageous.
